Butler competes at swim meet

Brittan Butler, a sophomore at Siloam Springs High School, participated in the 23rd annual Oklahoma Elite Pro Am swim meet in Edmond, Okla., Dec. 18-21.

The Elite Pro Am is invitation only or a strict time qualifying meet that attracts some of the top swim clubs and athletes in the nation and world. This year the meet featured former Olympians and hopeful Olympic and National champions competing for more than $60,000 in prize money. Participating athletes included Josh Davis, Nathan Adrian, Darrion Townsend, Breeja Larson, and Dax Hill.

Butler swims for Siloam Springs High School as well as the Razorback Aquatic Club, Aquahawgs, a year-round swim club. He attended as a representative of the Aquahawgs.

Butler competed in eight events -- five individual events and three relays.

Over the period of four days his individual entries were the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard freestyle.

Butler went to the consolation finals in the 200-yard backstroke where he was seeded seventh and finished in sixth. The RAC Aquahawgs placed first in the team rankings, third in the men's division and first in women's.
