Modern Woodmen of America donate funds for secure entrance at Colcord Elementary

COlCORD, Okla. -- A donation from Modern Woodmen of America is helping the Colcord School District install a new secure entrance door at the elementary school.

The magnetic lock door will require visitors to check in before entering the office. Work to install the entrance has already begun, according to superintendent Bill Simmons.

Modern Woodmen of America partnered with the Colcord Community for the past two years to raise money for the entrance. The financial services organization matched funds raised by the Colcord patrons up to $2,500. To date more than $11,000 has been raised for this project with Modern Woodmen responsible for $5,000 of the raised funds.

Colcord patrons, Colcord schools and the Colcord Parent Teacher Association also helped raise money for the entrance.

"We are so thankful and blessed for this donation from Modern Woodmen of America, as well as the Colcord patrons," Simmons said.

Modern Woodmen of America, based in Rock Island, Ill., is a financial services organization that offers life insurance, investment opportunities, college saving plans and retirement options for individuals or groups. The institution is more than 130 years old.
