City sales tax receipts up for October, county down

City sales tax receipts for October were up $16,351 compared to the same month last year.

Siloam Springs received $554,892.42 in city sales tax for October 2015, compared to $538,540.74 for October of 2014, according to the November issue of City & Town Magazine.

County sales tax receipts were down $13,465 in October. The city received $216,697 last month and $230,162.85 during the same month last year.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts last month were:

• Fayetteville, up $161,322 to $3.47 million

• Gentry, up $16,196 to $57,300

• Rogers, up $140,311 to $2.69 million

• Springdale, up $6,636 to $2.09 million.

Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts last month were:

• Bentonville, down $61,913 to $1.8 million

• Eureka Springs, down $3,104 to $224,684

• Lincoln, down $4,194 to $36,431.
