JBU women's basketball to play LCU at American Airlines Center

The John Brown women's basketball team has finalized an exhibition matchup with former Sooner Athletic Conference foe Lubbock Christian (Texas), which is slated to be played at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the American Airlines Center, home of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.

Following the game, JBU's Alumni and Parent Relations Department will host a reception within close proximity to the downtown Dallas arena. The reception details will be confirmed at a later date and will include an exhibition by the John Brown University lunabotics team, the Eaglenauts.

Tickets will soon be made available and can be purchased at JBU's athletic website www.jbuathletics.com. Tickets will serve as entry to both the JBU/LCU contest and the Dallas Mavericks game later that day, a 7:30 p.m. scheduled start time with the New Orleans Pelicans.

"This is a great opportunity for our program and JBU to participate in a game like this," said head women's basketball coach Jeff Soderquist. "It will be fun to play one of our old rivals. Coach Gomez and I are very good friends and he has done an outstanding job with the LCU program."

The two squads haven't met since the 2012-13 season, LCU's final campaign in the Sooner Athletic Conference before moving to NCAA Division II. The teams' history dates back to the 1995-96 season, which began with a pair of John Brown victories. Currently, the Chaps hold a 26-11 (.703) advantage in the all-time series.

The Golden Eagles open the 2015-16 season on Nov. 2 when they host Arlington Baptist (Texas) at 6 p.m. inside Bill George Arena.
