SSHS boys golf beats Alma

ALMA --The Siloam Springs boys golf team finished the 2015 regular season with its team round of the season.

The Panthers had three players shoot below 80 and they defeated Alma 307-366 Thursday at Eagle Crest Golf Course.

Senior Aaron Jones led the Panthers with a 71, while juniors Cody Beyer and Noah Karp shot 75 and 78, respectively.

Freshman Karson Clement carded an 83, while freshman Chase Beyer shot 88 to round out Siloam Springs' scoring.

"Obviously, you look at the boys' scores and we played really well," said Siloam Springs golf coach Michael Robertson. "Eagle Crest has always given us trouble because of the speed and slope of the greens, so for us to go there and play that well is exciting as we head into the state tournament."

Alma's David Mullins shot 84 to lead the Airedales.

In the girls match, Alma only fielded two golfers so there wasn't a team match. Alma's Olivia Faught led all golfers with an 88.

Sophomore Brinkley Beever shot 96, while senior Amanda Glass and junior Bailey Turner each shot 113. Freshman McKenzie Blanchard shot 115 and junior Halle Hevener 124.

The girls team plays in the Class 6A State Tournament in Mountain Home on Monday.

"We have been playing very steady for the last month and the girls are ready to go to Mountain Home and show how much we have improved since the first of August," Robertson said. "We are ready for the challenge and I expect us to play well."
