Alma rallies to beat Lady Panthers in league

ALMA -- The Siloam Springs softball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie Friday's game in the top of the fourth inning, but Alma answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on its way to a 5-2 victory against the Lady Panthers.

Siloam Springs (13-9, 4-4 7A/6A-Central Conference) wrapped up the first half of 6A conference play with a record of 1-2, with their only victory coming against defending 6A champion Greenwood. Along with Friday's loss, the Lady Panthers also lost to Russellville 1-0 in eight innings.

Alma (16-12, 3-5) and Greenwood (16-5, 9-1) both finished 2-1 in 6A games with Greenwood defeating the Airedalettes earlier in the year and defeating Russellville 10-0 on Friday.

Russellville and Siloam Springs are both 1-2.

Alma, Greenwood and Russellville are set to play at Siloam Springs in the second half of the 6A schedule.

Siloam Springs committed five errors in the loss to Alma on Friday.

Larissa Tillery and Crissa Spry had RBIs to tie the game at 2-2, but in the bottom of the fourth, Alma's Mikayla Lewis hit a go-ahead two-run single to give Alma a 4-2 lead. Lewis finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs.

Crissa Spry (12-6) took the loss for Siloam Springs.

Siloam Springs is scheduled to play a nonconference game at Gentry at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers then are scheduled to host Greenwood on Friday in an important 6A game.

NOTES: The Lady Panthers' conference game against Van Buren on April 19 was rained out and rescheduled for May 9.
