Girls win at tourney

WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- The Siloam Springs girls soccer team showed no rust Friday after week-long hiatus from competition.

The Lady Panthers scored five goals in each half in a 10-0 rout of tournament host West Plains (Mo.) in the 13th annual West Plains Zizzer Soccer Classic.

Siloam Springs entered the tournament as defending champions from last season. The Lady Panthers were scheduled to play Rolla (Mo.) on Saturday and then a third game later on Saturday.

Results were not available at presstime.

Averie Headrick scored two goals and had three assists for Siloam Springs, while Maycee Lance had two goals, and Audrey Maxwell, Laura Morales, Grace Simpson, Mackenzie Jones, Meghan Kennedy and Hannah Headrick all scored single goals.

Sydney Bomstad, Brooklyn Buckminster, Hadley Crenshaw, Maxwell and Morales also had assists for the Lady Panthers, who were 9-4-1 overall heading into Saturday's games.

The Lady Panthers return to action on Friday against Greenwood.
