Eighth-grade boys win at Rogers Elmwood

ROGERS -- The Siloam Springs eighth-grade boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday, 38-17, at Rogers Elmwood.

The Panthers (1-1) took a 13-5 lead after the first quarter and pulled ahead 17-10 at halftime. Siloam Springs led 24-15 going into the fourth quarter, where it outscored the Raiders 14-2.

Landon Ward led the Panthers with 13 points, while Camden Collins and Alex Crafton each had six, Jackson Ford and Breck Soderquist each with four, Max Perkins three and Solomon Hufford two.

Elmwood won the girls game 38-25. The Lady Raiders took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter and pulled ahead 25-13 at halftime. Elmwood carried a 31-21 lead into the fourth quarter.

Mia Hevener led the Lady Panthers (0-2) with eight points, while Julia Jackson had seven, Sydney Moorman and Jadyn Still each with four and Madi Race with two.

Both teams return to action at Panther Arena on Monday against Springdale Southwest. The girls game will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys game.
