Bentonville sweeps freshmen basketball teams

Bentonville edged the Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys in each quarter Monday to pull away for a 38-25 victory inside Panther Activity Center.

The Tigers led 8-6 after the first quarter and led 19-15 at halftime. Bentonville pulled ahead 29-21 going into the fourth quarter.

Thad Wright led the Panthers with seven points, while Ransom Van Asche had six, Gage Weaver four and Jackson Norberg, Carson Wleklinski, Jordan Stewart and Evan Sauer each with two.

The Panthers return to action at 6:45 p.m. Thursday against Providence Academy at Panther Activity Center. The Panthers lost to Providence 44-29 on Nov. 19 in the Allen Classic.

Girls

Bentonville 51, Siloam Springs 24

Bentonville jumped out to a big early lead and never let up in a win against the ninth-grade girls on Monday.

The Lady Tigers led 15-4 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 34-13 at halftime. Bentonville carried a 46-20 lead into the fourth quarter.

Jael Harried led the Lady Panthers (4-3) with seven points, while Lexi Fortner had five, Maddie Vaughan four, and Madison Pharr, Turtle Shreve, Candy Dubon and Shelby Johnson each with two.

The Lady Panthers return to action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against Providence Academy at Panther Activity Center. Siloam Springs has already beaten Providence once this season, a 42-10 victory on Nov. 19 in the Allen Classic.
