After a season highlighted with a Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year and All-Sooner Athletic first team honors, sophomore Kelvin Omondi has been named an NAIA All-America honorable mention, the national office announced Tuesday.

Omondi, who also garnered SAC Offensive Player of the Year, finished the 2016 campaign with a team-leading 15 goals and nine assists (39 points), which also topped all SAC strikers. Omondi scored six game-winners and started all 19 matches of the season.

His numbers crept into program single-season all-time record ranges as his 15 goals are tied for ninth and his 39 points are ninth all alone. More impressively, his 54 shots on goal set a new program record, previously held by Juan Iraola's 45 in 2009. Also, Omondi's 97 shot attempts fell at fourth-most all time. His six game-winners were also tied for fifth.

At the conclusion of the year, Omondi finished in a quartet of top-10 national rankings, including No. 4 in goals per game (2.8), No. 6 in game-winning goals (6), No. 8 in game-winners per game (.32) and No. 8 in shots per game (5.1).

The Golden Eagles finished the season at 13-4-3 and made an appearance in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championships for the first time since 2003.
