Eighth-grade girls, boys defeat Wranglers

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade girls improved to 5-8 overall with a 33-14 win over Springdale George on Thursday inside Panther Activity Center.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and led 11-4 at halftime. Siloam Springs pulled ahead 22-9 going into the fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Wranglers 11-5 in the final period.

Jael Harried and Madison Pharr each scored eight points to lead the Lady Panthers, while Shelby Johnson, Morgan Winesburg and Megan Jackson each had four. Alexsis Fortner had three points, while Maddie Vaughan had two.

Boys

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade boys defeated George 34-33 and improved to 6-7 overall.

The Panthers led 8-6 after the first period and 18-14 at halftime.

George outscored the Panthers 9-4 in the third quarter to take a 23-22 lead going into the fourth, but Siloam Springs outscored the Wranglers 12-10 in the final quarter to rally for the win.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers with 18 points, while Gage Weaver had seven, Thad Wright five and Ransom Van Asche four.

Both eighth-grade teams host Springdale Central on Monday inside the Panther Den. The boys game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the girls game at 6:45 p.m.
