Girls third after Day 1 of tourney

n The Panthers were tied for eighth at the Ultimate Auto Group Tournament in Mountain Home.

MOUNTAIN HOME -- The Siloam Springs girls golf team shot a team score of 282, good enough for third place after day one Monday at the Ultimate Auto Group Tournament at Big Creek Golf & Country Club.

Conway led the six-team field with a team score of 249, followed by Greenwood at 268. Tournament host Mountain Home was in fourth place at 288, followed by defending 6A champion Jonesboro at 318 and Shiloh Christian at 386.

The tournament continued on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.

Siloam Springs senior Brinkley Beever shot an 85 on the first day to lead the Lady Panthers. Beever's score had her in seventh place overall after Monday's 18-hole round.

Junior Kaitlyn Robinson shot a 98 for the Lady Panthers' second best score, while junior Mackenzie Blanchard finished with a 99.

Junior Jaelee Snyder shot a 101, while junior Kendall McCormick shot a 129 to round out the Lady Panthers' participants.

Casey Ott of Conway led all golfers with a day one score of 67, while Sydnie Gamble of Greenwood shot 74 in second place.

Boys

The Panthers shot a team score of 361 and were tied for eighth place out of nine teams heading into the final day of the tournament.

North Little Rock led day one with a team score of 293, followed by defending 6A champion Jonesboro at 303, Conway 307, Greenwood 315, Little Rock Catholic 319, Buffalo Island Central 322 and Marion 349.

The Panthers and Shiloh Christian each shot a day one total of 361. Tournament host Mountain Home was in last place at 438.

Junior Karson Clement led Siloam Springs with an 18-hole round of 82, while sophomore Luke Baker shot an 89. Sophomore Evan Bauer shot a 93, while juniors Josh Johnson and Trey Jackson finished at 97 and 99, respectively.

Ben Sherman of Jonesboro was in the lead after day one with a 67, followed by North Little Rock golfers Hunter Walker and Hyun Je Lee at 69 and 71, respectively.
