Cameron named SAC Player of the Week

John Brown University sophomore women's basketball player Baily Cameron has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading JBU to a pair of wins, conference offices announced Monday afternoon.

In a pair of home contests, Cameron averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists to pace the No. 20 Golden Eagles to wins over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Feb. 2 and No. 16 Wayland Baptist (Texas) in the NAIA National Game of the Week this past Saturday.

It's the second career honor for Cameron, a native of Siloam Springs.

Cameron also shot 42.9 percent from the floor over the two victories (12-of-28) and turned in 15- and 20-point performances, respectively, adding her fourth double-double of the year in the win against the Flying Queens. Her outing against WBU marked the fifth time this season scoring 20 or more, and the 5-foot-10 forward almost posted her first-career triple-double, adding 10 boards and seven assists, a career-high, against Baptist.

The Golden Eagles, now in the midst of a seven-game win streak, face their toughest test yet this season on Thursday when they travel to Oklahoma City to face the No. 7 Stars in a 6 p.m. matchup.

With six games remaining in the regular season, John Brown is one game behind Wayland Baptist for the second seed in the 2017 Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament and two games behind the league-leading Stars.
