Cameron earns conference honors again

OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University sophomore women's basketball player Baily Cameron has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading JBU to a pair of wins, conference offices announced Monday afternoon.

In a pair of close matchups, Cameron averaged 27.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to pace the No. 17 Golden Eagles to wins over Bacone (Okla.) on the road and Science and Arts (Okla.) inside Bill George Arena.

Cameron shot 71.4 percent from the floor over the two victories (20-of-28) and turned in 30 and 25-point performances, respectively, including an 18-point outburst in the fourth quarter against USAO, fueling a late JBU effort that erased a 10-point deficit at home. On Thursday, Feb. 16, Cameron completed her fifth double-double of the season with 13 rebounds in John Brown's gutsy win at Bacone.

Cameron has now won SAC Player of the Week honors three times in her career. This year, she currently ranks 14th in the nation in total points (456) and 15th in total shooting percentage (53.7).

The Golden Eagles captured home-court advantage in the SAC tournament quarterfinals on Feb. 28 with a 2-0 week, but its opponent has still yet to be determined. With two games remaining in the regular season, John Brown is one game behind Wayland Baptist for the second seed and three games behind league-leading Oklahoma City.
