Eighth-grade girls defeated by Rogers Oakdale

Rogers Oakdale used a big second quarter to push ahead of the Siloam Springs eighth-grade girls basketball team and defeat the Lady Panthers 32-26 on Monday night.

The game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter, but Oakdale outscored the Lady Panthers 16-5 in the third quarter to take a 23-12 lead.

Siloam Springs cut into the lead in the third quarter and trailed 30-21 entering the final quarter.

Jadyn Still led the Lady Panthers (8-9) with eight points, while Mia Hevener and Makenna Thomas each had seven. Quincy Efurd added three points and Sydney Moorman one.

Boys

Rogers Oakdale won the eighth-grade boys game 30-15. The Panthers dropped to 4-13 with the loss.

Siloam Springs trailed 5-2 after the first quarter and 14-2 at halftime. The Patriots took a 20-6 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Camden Collins led the Panthers with six points, while Solomon Hufford had five and Max Perkins four.

Up next

The eighth-grade teams will wrap up their season this week by participating in the I-49 Challenge Basketball Tournament at Elmwood Middle School in Rogers.

The eight-team, single-elimination tournaments run Wednesday through Saturday and feature eighth-grade teams from the Bentonville and Rogers school districts and Siloam Springs.

The Siloam Springs boys play at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday against Bentonville Lincoln, while the Siloam Springs girls play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against tournament host Elmwood.
