Ninth-grade teams sweep Bentonville West

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls watched a double-digit lead disappear in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Panthers were able to hold on and beat Bentonville West 30-29 on Thursday at Panther Activity Center.

It was the third straight victory for the Lady Panthers (9-6).

Siloam Springs led 15-4 after the first quarter and 21-10 at halftime.

The Lady Panthers maintained the 11-point lead, 27-16, going into the fourth quarter.

Shelby Johnson led Siloam Springs with 12 points, while Madison Pharr had seven, Jael Harried four, Turtle Shreve three and Brooke Henderson and Morgan Winesburg each with two.

Ninth-grade boys

The ninth-grade boys won their second straight with a 42-40 victory over West.

The Panthers led the Wolverines 10-5 after the first period and 26-21 at halftime.

West cut into the lead 29-26 going into the fourth quarter.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers (6-8) with 13 points, while Ransom Van Asche had eight, Thad Wright seven, Evan Sauer six, Gage Weaver five and Jordan Stewart three.
