Hot streak continues for freshmen

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys basketball team's recent hot streak continued Thursday night.

The Panthers won their fourth straight game -- and their third straight victory by a margin of two points or fewer -- with a 44-43 win against Fayetteville White inside Panther Activity Center.

The Panthers (8-8) led 11-9 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 23-14 at halftime.

White hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer at the end of the third quarter to cut the lead to two, 28-26.

The Panthers had to hit some clutch free throws in the fourth quarter to hang on for the victory.

Drew Vachon led Siloam Springs with 12 points, while Carson Wleklinski and Gage Weaver each had nine, Ransom Van Asche, Evan Sauer and Thad Wright each with four, and Jackson Norberg with two.

Ninth-grade girls

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls dropped their second straight game with a 56-19 loss to White.

The Lady Panthers (9-8) trailed 9-2 after the first quarter and 27-11 at halftime.

White extended its lead to 42-15 going into the fourth quarter.

Shelby Johnson led the Lady Panthers with seven points, while Maddie Vaughan had four and Madison Pharr, Alyssa Maxwell, Morgan Winesburg and Jael Harried each with two points.

Up next

Both ninth-grade teams play at Fayetteville Purple on Monday. Both teams lost to Purple on Nov. 19, with the boys losing 36-34 and the girls falling 38-34.
