Tax receipts up in May

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $55,597 in May compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $673,014 in May 2017, compared to $619,417 in May 2016, according to the June issue of City & Town Magazine.

County sales tax receipts were up $12,041, from $255,252 in May 2016 to $267,293 in May 2017.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonville, up $341,580 to $2.206 million

• Eureka Springs, up $21,053 to $198,736

• Fayetteville, up $263,052 to $3.58 million

• Gentry, up $5,127 to $51,769

• Lincoln, up $6,061 to $50,273

• Springdale, up $333,507 to $2.12 million.

Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:

• Rogers, down $14,136 to $3.07 million
