City sales taxes up

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $30,421 in August compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $665,858 in August 2017, compared to $635,437 in August 2016, according to the September issue of City & Town magazine.

County sales tax receipts were up $25,407, from $242,262 in August 2016 to $267,669 in August 2017.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonville, up $464,709 to $1.95 million

• Fayetteville, up $156,789 to $3.63 million

• Lincoln, up $3,504 to $42,188

• Rogers, up $115,297 to $3.07 million

• Springdale, up $375,012 to $2.56 million.

Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:

• Eureka Springs, down $11,673 to $249,862

• Gentry, down $3,178 to $449,620.
