Ninth-grade volleyball picks up first win

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade volleyball team picked up its first win of the season this week Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Rogers Heritage inside the Panther Den.

Siloam Springs won the first set 25-23 and finished off the Lady War Eagles with a 25-19 victory in the second set.

Makenna Thomas led the Lady Panthers with four kills, while Micah Curry had two kills and nine aces and Chelsea McWhorter two kills.

Abby Gross and Jaedyn Soucie each had one kill, while Myah Moren, Camyrn Kendrick and Clara Butler each had one ace.

The Lady Panthers then played at Farmington on Wednesday and dropped a 2-0 match at Farmington.

The Lady Cardinals won the first set 26-24 and then finished the match with a 25-14 win in the second set.

Faith Howie had four aces for the Lady Panthers (1-5), while McWhorter had two kills and Curry one block.

Eighth-grade

The eighth-graders picked up a 2-0 (25-8, 25-18) victory over Rogers Oakdale on Tuesday.

MaKaylee Reicheneker led the Lady Panthers (3-2) with eight aces, while Haliee Free had three aces.

Jensen Kelly had two aces and one kill, while Dorothy Swearingen had two kills and Cora Dewey one kill.

Siloam Springs won the B game 25-21, 25-7.

The eighth-graders lost 2-0 at Rogers Lingle on Wednesday. Lingle won the first game 25-10 and the second 25-22. Siloam Springs won the B game 2-0 (25-21, 25-20).

Seventh-grade

The seventh-grade volleyball team dropped a 2-1 loss at Farmington on Wednesday.

The Lady Panthers won the first set 25-20, but they dropped the second set 25-23. Farmington won the third set 15-9.

Siloam Springs (1-2) was scheduled to play Springdale Tyson last Tuesday, but the match had to be canceled because of transportation conflicts for Springdale. The Lady Panthers played an intrasquad scrimmage in place of the game.

Up next

The eighth- and ninth-grade teams were scheduled to play Saturday in the Springdale Southwest Tournament. Results were not available at presstime.

Both teams return to action on the road Monday at Bentonville West in Centerton. The eighth-graders play Bentonville Lincoln at 5:30 p.m., followed by the ninth-grade against West at 6:30 p.m.

Both teams are back at home on Tuesday as the eighth-graders host Rogers Elmwood and the ninth-grade battles Rogers.

The seventh-grade returns to action on Monday at Shiloh Christian.
