Junior high track teams compete in conference meet

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs junior high girls track team, composed of eighth- and ninth-graders, finished sixth on Tuesday in the Northwest Arkansas Conference Junior High Meet.

Fayetteville Purple won the meet with 154 points, while Springdale Central was second at 105, followed by Rogers 104.5, Bentonville 85.5, Fayetteville White 60, Siloam Springs 41, Bentonville West 40, Rogers Heritage 22, Springdale Southwest 11 and Springdale Lakeside 1.

Quincy Efurd scored eight points and finished second in the 300-meter hurdles at 50.30, with Chelsea McWhorter taking 13th at 56.83 and Emma Norberg in 14th at 57.02.

Efurd took third place and scored six points in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.38, while McWhorter was 11th at 18.18 and Norberg 16th at 18.51.

Breanna Wood took third place in the discus at 81-9.25 and scored six points, while Chloe Chandler was sixth at 73-4 and scored three points, Bethany Mejia 10th at 69-2.5 and Cora Dewey 14th at 64-3.

McWhorter placed third in the pole vault and scored six points with a height of 8-0.

Dewey placed fifth in the shot put at 31-11 and scored four points, while Wood was 10th at 30-10, Makaylee Reichenecker 12th at 29-0.5, Mejia 16th at 27-8.

Siloam Springs' 4x400-meter relay team of Hattie Price, Efurd, Camryn Kendrick and Ashlyn Walker finished fourth and scored five points with a time of 4 minutes, 49.35 seconds.

The Lady Panthers' 4x800-meter relay team of Rebecca Largent, Mejia, Hannah Pittman and Walker placed seventh and scored two points with a time of 11:48.89.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Jaebri Johnston, Kendrick, Efurd and Bethany Markovich took eighth and scored one point with a time of 56.59.

Markovich was ninth in the triple jump at 30-5, Efurd 15th at 29-6.5, Sofia Lange 16th at 29-4.5 and Abby Gross at 27-9.

Kendrick placed 10th in the 100-meter dash at 13.42, while Markovich placed 16th at 13.60 and Johnston 30th at 14.79.

Walker took 13th in the 1,600-meter run at 6:16.35.

Kendrick placed 16th in the 200-meter dash at 29.21 with Markovich in 19th at 29.42 and Johnston 28th at 31.83.

Kendrick placed 18th in the long jump at 14.5.5, while Lange was 22nd at 14-0.5.

Trang Phan finished 21st in the 800-meter run at 3:07.71, while Kendra Reimer was 22nd at 3:10.48.

Pittman finished 27th in the 400-meter dash at 1:15.22, while Lange was 29th at 1:16.30 and Hattie Price 32nd at 1:18.50.

Boys

The Panthers finished eight in the junior high boys meet.

Bentonville finished first with 175 points, followed by Rogers 120, Springdale Central 90, Bentonville West 63.5, Fayetteville Purple 55.5, Springdale Southwest 33, Rogers Heritage 28, Siloam Springs 26, Fayetteville White 15, Springdale Lakeside 14 and Springdale George 1.

Jeff Palvinson took second in the 100-meter dash at 11.33 and scored eight points, while Broc Hilburn was 36th at 13.05, David Gowin 37th at 13.49 and Ben Humphries 38th at 13.63.

Keondre Westbrook took third in the shot put at 43-4.5 and scored six points, while Jace Sutulovich was fifth at 43-1 and scored four points, Colton Washington 22nd at 35-5.5 and Truman Janes 23rd at 35-5.

Janes finished fifth and scored four points in the discus at 134-5, while Sutulovich was eighth at 126-9 and scored one point and Westbrook 12th at 120-5.

Palvinson finished eighth in the long jump at 18-7.5 and scored one point.

Palvinson also took eighth in the 200-meter dash at 24.00 and scored one point, while Ben Humphries was 29th at 27.98.

Christian Ledeker placed eighth in the triple jump at 38-6 and scored one point, while Palvinson was 12th at 36-11.

Ledeker was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.30, while Josh Stewart was 24th at 21.20.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Hilburn, Palvinson, Ledeker and Gowin took 10th at 50.56.

Ledeker was 15th in the 300-meter hurdles at 48.98, while Stewart was 24th at 52.51.

Javier Chavez placed 18th in the 1,600-meter run at 5:31.74, while Solomon Hufford was 24th at 5:44.92 and Andy Almanza 29th at 5:55.71.

Chavez placed 19th in the 800-meter run at 2:26.95.

Humphries placed 26th in the 400-meter dash at 1:07.55.
