Boys swim to 6A North District championship

BENTONVILLE -- The Siloam Springs boys swim team captured the Class 6A North District Championship on Friday at the Bentonville Community Center.

The Panthers finished with 431 points ahead of second place Russellville, which had 342 and Mountain Home, which was third at 328.

The Panthers got the competition off to a good start at the 200-yard medley relay team of Will Gryder, Landon Cottrell, Lee Thompson and Hayden Moore that finished first with a time of 1 minute, 52.25 seconds, the first of eight first place finishes for Siloam Springs.

Owen Thomas finished first in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle, as Thomas swam the 200 at 2:11.32 and the 500 at 6:16.43. Teammate Sean Jeppsen placed third in the 500 at 6:43.61.

Landon Cottrell had first place finishes in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Cottrell won the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.18, while Thompson was second at 2:31.88 and Chase Kruger was third at 2:40.25.

Cottrell won the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:08.05.

Thompson placed first in the 100 butterfly at 1:02.87, while Kruger was second at 1:10.26.

Gryder took first place in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 1:10.32, while teammate Mason Clayton was fifth at 1:20.71.

The relay team of Moore, Thomas, Thompson and Cottrell won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:49.33.

Moore placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.30, while Gryder was fourth at 27.27.

Moore also took second in the 100 freestyle at 57.79.

The Panthers' 200 freestyle relay team of Thomas, Ethan Andrus, Gryder and Kruger finished second at 1:47.19.

Girls

Russellville won the 6A Girls North District title with 503 points, while Siloam Springs was second at 400, Mountain Home third at 362 and Greenwood fourth at 40.

The Lady Panthers' 200 medley relay team of Baleigh Butler, McKenzie Blanchard, Catherine Donner and HannaJoy Morgan finished third at 2:30.83.

Isabelle Pennick finished second in the 200 freestyle at 2:40.44.

The Lady Panthers did well in the 200 IM as Claudia Manning took second place with a time of 2:57.31, followed by teammates Baleigh Butler in third at 3:11.04, Abigail Haak in fourth at 3:15.62 and Chandler Losh in fifth at 3:15.62.

Kate Gryder finished second in the 50 freestyle at 27.60, followed by Caroline Farine in third at 28.80.

Donner placed third in the 100 butterfly at 1:22.28, while Manning was fourth at 1:25.09.

Kate Gryder was second in the 100 freestyle at 1:01.18, while Farine was fourth at 1:06.91.

Losh placed third in the 500 freestyle at 7:58.31, while HannaJoy Morgan was fifth at 8:19.49.

The Lady Panthers' 200 freestyle relay team of Farine, Manning, Pennick and Kate Gryder finished second at 2:01.39.

Butler placed fourth in the 100 backstroke at 1:21.74.

Donner was third in the 100 breaststroke at 1:25.83.

The Lady Panthers' 400 freestyle relay team of Kate Gryder, Pennick, Manning and Farine finished second at 4:38.27.
