Panthers, Lady Panthers solid at dual swim meet

Several Siloam Springs individuals and relay teams had strong showings during a dual swim meet against Clarksville and Springdale High at John Brown University on Jan. 10.

The boys team had three individuals win two events each. Freshman Owen Thomas won the 200 Free and 500 Free events. Junior Landon Cottrell won the 200 IM and 100 Breast while junior Lee Thompson won the 100 Fly and 100 Free.

That trio also helped the Panthers win a pair of relays with the team of Thomas, Cottrell, Thompson and senior Hayden Moore winning the 400 Free Relay. Freshman Will Gryder then teamed with Cottrell, Thompson and Moore to win the 200 Medley Relay. Will Gryder, Ethan Andrus, Thomas and Thompson added a runner-up finish in the 200 Free Relay.

Moore also came in second in 50 Free while Will Gryder grabbed fifth and Mason Clayton came in sixth in the event. Will Gryder added a third place finish in the 100 Back. Harrison Losh came in third in the 100 Breast. Sean Jeppson was fourth in the 200 Free and sixth in the 100 Fly.

For the Lady Panthers, Kate Gryder was the lone individual winner when the freshman swam the 50 Free in 28.99 seconds. Teammate Caroline Farine was a close second in 29.15 seconds.

Isabelle Pennick finished second in the 200 Free. Chandler Losh logged a fourth place finish in the 500 Free. In the 100 Breast event, Claudia Manning came in fourth, followed by Abigail Hawk and McKenzie Blanchard in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Other top individual finishers for the Lady Panthers were Farine (3rd, 100 Free) and Manning (6th, 100 Fly).

Pennick, Farine, Kate Gryder and Manning teamed up for a third place finish in the 200 Medley relay.
