American Legion baseball is back in Siloam Springs this summer.
Storms Orthodontics Siloam Post 29 was scheduled to begin its schedule last weekend at a tournament in Fayetteville and a full schedule is on tap for the month of June and into July.
The team will be coached by Siloam Springs High School baseball coaches Alan Hardcastle and Tony Coffey along with volunteer assistants Daulton Coffey and Drew England. Allen Broyles will be the team's general manager.
Players on the team include rising Siloam Springs High School seniors L.T. Ellis, Chance Hilburn and Baron Meek, juniors Tanner Broyles, Dakota Herrel, Tevin Herrel, Isaac Price, Reed Willbanks, sophomores Elijah Coffey, Colin Evers, Nathan Lee and Trey Hardcastle. The team will have three players from Gravette in Dallas Wallace, Caleb Wallace and Jonah Keener.
Also, the team will include two former SSHS standouts and now college players Dawson Armstrong and Chance Junkermann.
"It's a very diverse roster when you look at ages," Allen Broyles said. "You do have some older guys and some guys that are going to be seniors. We have some guys coming back from college for a year playing college level baseball.
It'll be a good perspective for those younger guys. Our high school team this past year was young. We're excited about watching these kids grow and keep getting that experience and that's what matters. There's no substitute for that. We're excited about it."
The team has four home doubleheaders scheduled: June 6 vs. Russellville, June 13 vs. Fort Smith, June 20 vs. Rogers and July 9 vs. Harrison.
