Junior high football teams lose in Springdale

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs freshman football team dropped a 14-7 loss to Springdale Southwest on Thursday night at Wildcat Stadium.

The loss drops the freshmen to 3-4 on the season.

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade team was defeated 14-12 in overtime by Southwest.

The game was tied 6-6 in regulation with both teams scoring touchdowns and the Cougars successfully converting the two-point conversion.

Stone Stevens led Siloam Springs defensively with 10.5 tackles. Alejandro Casteneda had four tackles and Gabriel Cruz had 3.5 tackles, two pass breakups and one interception.

Stevens led the Panthers' offense with 51 rushing yards and a five-yard touchdown reception. Quarterback Tyson Seyer completed two passes for 15 yards and a touchdown and he also rushed for a touchdown. Siloam Springs dropped to 1-6 on the season.

Siloam Springs lost the seventh-grade game to Springdale Tyson 8-0, dropping to 4-2 overall.

The Panthers had a drive end on the 1-foot line before time expired in the first half, and they also had a 65-yard touchdown run called back because of a penalty.

Jed Derwin rushed for 79 yards on 16 carries, and Devlin Husong had six carries for 31 yards. Derwin led with five tackles on defense, while Jackson Taylor had 2.5 tackles and Logan Keaton 2 tackles.
