Junior high teams sweep 5A-West meets

The Siloam Springs junior high boys and girls teams each won the 5A-West Conference junior high meets held Thursday at the Simmons Course in Siloam Springs.

"It was a fantastic finish for the junior boys and girls teams," said head coach Conlan Efurd. "They had set their goal to be conference champions and they completed that task today. A total of 10 first place finishes this year combined for both teams."

Boys

Wilson Cunningham finished second overall and Levi Fox was third as the Panthers scored 30 points to finish 52 points ahead of second place Russellville, which had 82. Vilonia was third with 83 points, while Greenwood was fourth at 85, followed by Greenbrier 93, Beebe 155 and Little Rock Christian 205. Alma only had one participant and didn't field a team score.

Cunningham finished in 11 minutes, 36.18 seconds to take second place behind Greenwood's Joshua Merritt, who ran a first-place time of 11:25.25.

Fox finished just behind Cunningham at 11:37.36, followed in sixth by Nathan Hawbaker at 11:45.98.

Noah Granderson placed ninth at 11:48.72, while Connor Clayton was 10th at 11:49.02, Liam Scott 12th at 12:09.08 and Nathan Vachon 23rd at 12:35.98 to complete the Panthers' top seven scores.

Tyler Cottrell placed 28th at 12:42.72, with Nathan Thurstenson in 33rd at 13:03.53, Cayden Hansen 35th at 13:05.74, Tate Broquard 36th at 13:06.34, Truman Janes 37th at 13:07.35, Logan Sharp 39th at 13:08.12, Ben Haak 40th at 13:11.96, Camden Blackfox 41st at 13:17.88 and Barrett Eldridge 42nd at 13:17.94.

Charlie Hyde ran a time of 13:29.73 to finish 48th, while Samuel Herndon was 49th at 13:38.43, Thad Goetz 51st at 13:43.18, Ferdi Blume 53rd at 13:45.47, Caleb Rodgers 62nd at 14:01.25, Cooper Shaw 63rd at 14:03.59 and Riley Owens 64th at 14:04.67.

Also running for Siloam Springs was Keegan Hansen 14:08.80, Ben Stout 14:09.99, Malachi Becan 14:14.69, Bryson Yeager 14:23.82, Ezekiel Becan 14:27.61, Jacob Moorman 14:28.59, Jared Brewer 14:31.19, Caleb Wallace 14:32.69, Dane Kelly 14:46.17, Ivan Parra 14:52.50, Riley Harrison 15:02.86, Noah Sharp 15:34.41 and Rowan Turner 17:19.12.

Girls

Emily Brown placed third overall and Shelby Smith was fourth as the Lady Panthers took first place in the junior high girls race.

Siloam Springs finished with 32 points, ahead of Greenwood 46, Russellville 71, Vilonia 88, Little Rock Christian 126, Beebe 160 and Greenbrier 185. Alma had one finisher and did not field a team score.

Brown ran a time of 13:17.30, while Smith was fourth at 13:27.22.

Ellen Slater placed sixth at 13:43.10 while Grace Price placed eighth at 13:53.04 and Addison Pilcher 11th at 14:06.85.

Shayla Conley placed 23rd at 14:58.49, while Lilian Wilkie was 24th at 15:08.05 to round out the Lady Panthers' top seven scores.

Avery Carter placed 28th at 15:22.31 with Faith Harris placing 32nd at 15:41.09, Ava Anglin 38th at 15:57.36, Lexi Lane 43rd at 16:20.61, Leahla Schochler 45th at 16:23.23, Anna Floyd 46th at 16:25.02 and Joy Nam 47th at 16:26.84.

Ridley Floyd ran a 16:54.53, with Crystal Mercado finishing in 17:05.38, Laura Fields 17:22.28, Jenna Keys 17:31.27, Vivian Conroy 17:43.06 and Hannah Green 23:15.00.
