Junior high girls take fifth at Chile Pepper, boys ninth

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Siloam Springs junior high girls cross country team finished fifth overall Saturday at the annual Chile Pepper Festival 5K held at Agri Park in Fayetteville.

A total of 39 teams and 525 runners competed in the race, which was won by Fayetteville Woodland with 54 points, followed by Rogers 57, Bentonville Washington 90 and Lake Hamilton 176 as the junior high runners were running a 5K rather than their traditional two-mile race.

Siloam Springs finished with 247 points led by a 15th-place finish by Shelby Smith, who finished with a time of 21 minutes, 51.3 seconds.

Jaclyn Weilnah placed 41st overall at 22:59.4, while Ellen Slater was 54th at 23:26.3 and Emily Brown 60th at 23:34.5.

Lilly Cole finished 77th at 23:56.1 while Addison Pilcher placed 78th at 23:57.0 and Kadynce Hilburn 85th at 24:15.8 to complete Siloam Springs' top seven scores.

Shayla Conley finished her race in 24:37.1, while Laurel Granderson ran a time of 24:38.7, Faith Harris 26:38.8, Ava Anglin 27:06.0, Lexi Lane 27:22.2, Lillian Wilkie 27:28.6, Avery Carter 27:31.5, Crystal Mercado 28:42.5, Nyah Hostler 31:14.9 and Laura Fields 31:31.3.

Junior high boys

The Panthers finished ninth overall with 234 points in the junior high boys race, which had 46 teams and a total of 722 runners.

Levi Fox led the Panthers with a 35th-place finish of 19:12.3, while Wilson Cunningham was 36th at 19:12.6.

Javier Chavez placed 42nd at 19:20.5 with Nathan Hawbaker in 60th at 19:36.3, Dane Kelly 61st at 19:37.6, Jordyn Baskins 71st at 19:45.8 and Noah Granderson 86th at 20:01.2.

Connor Clayton ran a 20:17.9 for Siloam Springs, while Liam Scott finished in 20:51.4, Cooper Shaw 21:24.3, Cayden Hansen 21:28.0, Barrett Eldridge 21:36.7, Nathan Vachon 21:37.9, Charlie Hyde 21:46.3, Tyler Cottrell 21:47.9, Camden Blackfox 22:03.5, Truman Janes 22:33.8, Ben Haak 22:35.8, Thad Goetz 22:35.9, Tate Broquard 22:46.3 and Logan Sharp 22:46.8.

Also running for Siloam Springs was Ferdi Blume 23:12.5, Nathan Thurstenson 23:30.3, Keegan Hansen 23:35.4, Malachi Becan 23:48.6, Ezekiel Becan 23:58.6, Bryson Yeager 23:59.1, Jared Brewer 24:35.0, Samuel Herndon 25:01.9, Caleb Wallace 25:02.6, Ivan Parra 25:07.2, Jacob Moorman 25:16.1, Ben Stout 25:21.5, Riley Harrison 27:04.9, Noah Sharp 28:43.6 and Rowan Turner 29:29.9.
